After the pour

Concrete keeps getting stronger for weeks. Here's when you can use it, so nobody leaves tire marks in your new driveway.

  1. 0

    Poured and finished

We pour, finish and cut the control joints, then wet-cure it so the surface doesn't dry too fast in the heat.

  2. 1

    Walk on it

Foot traffic is fine. Keep pets, bikes and wheelbarrows off for one more day.

  3. 3

    Patio furniture

Light furniture and the grill can go back. Lift it, don't drag it.

  4. 7

    Park the car

Cars and pickups can drive on it. Keep heavy trucks and trailers off.

  5. 28

    Full strength

It's reached its rated strength. Seal stamped and stained finishes now.

Why our slabs don't crack

Most cracked driveways come down to the same four shortcuts. We don't take them.

Compacted base

Four inches of crushed base, compacted in lifts. Soft ground is the top cause of sinking slabs.

Steel in every slab

#3 or #4 rebar on 18-inch centers, set on chairs so it sits in the middle, not the dirt.

Joints in the right place

Control joints cut within a day, no more than 10 to 12 feet apart, so cracks run where we want them.

A real cure

Curing compound or wet blankets in summer, so the top doesn't dry before the inside.

What neighbors say

★★★★★
They tore out our cracked driveway on Monday and we were parking on the new one the next Monday, like they said.
Dana R. · Driveway, Calallen
★★★★★
The stamped patio looks like real slate. They sealed it a month later without me having to call.
Marcus T. · Stamped patio, Southside
★★★★★
Six-inch shop slab for my lift. The quote was itemized down to the rebar and the price didn't move.
