What we build

Rough framing to finish carpentry. Same crew start to finish, so the person who framed it also hangs the doors.

Recent work

The wood we pick

Salt air and humidity are rough on lumber here. We match the species to where it lives.

Western red cedar

Naturally resists rot and bugs. Weathers to a silver gray if you leave it unstained.

Decks, pergolas, siding

Treated pine

Pressure-treated for ground contact. Strong and affordable for the parts you won't see.

Framing, posts, joists

White oak

Hard, tight-grained and handsome under a clear finish. Takes a beating on stairs.

Stairs, built-ins, shelves

Poplar

Smooth and stable, with no knots to bleed through. The best wood for painted trim.

Paint-grade trim, doors

From clients

“They found the old header was undersized when we opened the wall, and fixed it right instead of hiding it.”
Karen W. · Kitchen opening
“The built-ins look like they came with the house. My wife cried a little.”
Tom B. · Living room built-ins
“Our deck survived the last storm without a loose board. The neighbor's didn't.”
